The University of Florida Summer Music Camp is an exploration of the band program for students in a major university setting. Students will take part in highly specialized instruction in large ensemble and small chamber music settings. Each day will be filled with music instruction and social activities, including sectionals, full band rehearsals, music elective(s), private lessons (optional), recreation time, afternoon and evening activities. The campers are taught by outstanding band directors from across the country. Each faculty member has vast experience in training and rehearsing young band musicians.
ADVANCED DRUM MAJOR/STUDENT CONDUCTOR/MUSIC MAJOR PREP
*Beginning Drum Major or some experience is required for the advanced course.*
This course is for the experienced drum major or student conductor/leader. Students planning to make a career in music education as a band or orchestra conductor would also benefit from this course. Experienced professors and public school professionals will lead classes in Conducting Technique, Score Study, Rehearsal Technique, Theory/Transposition, Marching Fundamentals, Educational Philosophy, and Leadership.
