Author Guidelines and Information
1. Initial Submission of Manuscripts
Send your initial paper for peer-review to the conference website by February 7, 2008. Please indicate the track. Tracks are listed later in this Call for Papers. Papers can be submitted up to March 31, 2008, but cannot be published in the Proceedings. All submissions should be done electronically. Papers should be prepared in Microsoft Word and sent to the conference website and as email attachments to your Track members (names and addresses to be given in the next call). Please note the following:
• File Names should contain the track number and full name of one of the Authors. For example: T5 Jacquelyne Muhati.
• Whereas research-in-progress papers are invited as well, only full, competitive papers that are accepted will be published in the Conference Proceedings. Working papers may be eligible for presentation only.
• Each paper should include a separate title page, which clearly indicates title of the paper, author(s) names and titles (e.g. Dr., Miss, Ms., Professor), institutional affiliations, complete mailing addresses, email addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and name of the author to whom all correspondence should be addressed.
• All papers should be prepared in Microsoft Word, Times New Roman, Font 11 and single-spaced, with the following specifications:
Columns and Margins: Use single column, one inch margins (1”) all-round: Top, Bottom, Left, and Right
Length: Should not be longer than 7 single-spaced pages, including the title, tables, figures, appendices, references, and other illustrative materials. Accepted papers that are longer than 7 pages (and published in the Proceedings) will incur a charge of U.S $15 per page. Such authors should pay the extra fee at the time of submitting their final papers, otherwise the paper will not be included in the Proceedings. If your paper is longer than 14 pages, please, consider submitting an abbreviated version for the proceedings and a full version to the Journal of African Business.
• All papers should have an Abstract (maximum of 200 words), as well as an Introduction.
• Citations: should be of the form Rugimbana (2005) or Rugimbana and Rutashobya (2005) or Rugimbana et al. (2005) within or at the end of sentences.
• Tables/figures/graphs: should be typed as close as possible to the location where they are cited. All Tables/Figures/Graphs should fit within the margins specified above. Please, use MS Word tables to create your tables.
• Equations: All equations should be placed on separate lines and numbered consecutively, with the equation numbers placed within parentheses (brackets) and aligned against the left margin.
• Conclusions and Implications: each paper should have major conclusions and implications
• REFERENCES: Do not use endnotes or footnotes.

2. Final Submission of Accepted Papers for the Conference Program and Proceedings
Upon acceptance, the author, or at least one of the co-authors, agrees to:
(a) Register and pay the conference fee by the early deadline of March 7, 2008
(b) Attend and present the paper at the conference, and
(c) Return an electronic version of the paper in Microsoft Word, as an email attachment, by 4:00 p.m. (GMT) on February 25, 2008.

CONFERENCE PAPER AWARDS
Manuscripts to be considered for the Best Paper Awards must not be longer than 7 pages and must conform fully to the specified Manuscript Guidelines.

Papers that address the conference theme, as well as other areas of African Business and Development, are encouraged and welcome.
