Registration Fee Waivers Available
 
The IAABD conference has ten (10) Registration Fee waivers available for individuals wishing to attend the Annual Conference of the International Academy of African Business Development to be held at the University of Florida, May 20-24, 2008. Registration Fee waivers pay for conference registration that includes IAABD membership, program and proceedings materials, breakfasts, lunches, and receptions.
 
To be Eligible:
 
  1. An applicant must be employed by or a graduate student at a university or educational institution in continental Africa. All disciplines will be considered.
 
  1. An applicant must file a formal request for support with: Dr. Anita Spring, IAABD conference chair, iaabd2008@ufic.ufl.edu
 
  1. The request should include:
    1. A cover letter stating the track and title of the paper submitted along with complete contact information.
    2. A current curriculum vita or resume for the applicant.
 
  1. Recipients must satisfy all US visa requirements. A letter of invitation will be sent to recipients for use in obtaining visas.
 
  1. Hotel and Airfare are not included.
  
The deadline for submitting a request is March 20. All applicants will be notified of the outcome by the end of March.

Travel Grants Available
 
The Fisher School of Accounting of the University of Florida is making a limited number of travel grants available for individuals wishing to attend the Annual Conference of the International Academy of African Business Development to be held at the University of Florida, May 20-24, 2008. Travel grants will be awarded to defray up to $1,500 of travel costs for attendees traveling from Africa to Florida. Eligibility requirements include:
 
  1. An applicant must be fully employed by a university or comparable educational institution in continental Africa. All disciplines will be considered.
 
  1. An applicant must file a formal request for support with Professor W. Robert Knechel, Director, International Center for Research in Accounting and Auditing. Requests should be sent by email to: Kathy.Murphy@cba.ufl.edu
 
  1. The application should include:
    1. Formal request for support including estimated actual travel costs.
    2. A current curriculum vita or resume for the applicant.
 
  1. Recipients must satisfy all US visa requirements. A letter of invitation will be sent to recipients for use in obtaining visas.
 
  1. Allowable expenses include airfare, hotel costs and incidental ground transportation. Conference registration (including breakfasts, lunches and receptions) may be included in the grant request. Additional meals are not covered by the grant. Recipients can have their hotel and registration paid directly from the grant. Airfare and incidental travel costs will be reimbursed upon presentation of receipts.
 
The deadline for submitting a request is March 20.   All applicants will be notified of the outcome of the travel grant requests by the end of March. The travel grants are supported by FCA Corporation (www.fcacorp.com).
