Poster Guidelines

The poster session will be held in Conference Rooms 1, 2 & 3 and will be open for set-up at 5:00 pm on Monday, September 24, 2007. 
You will be provided a 6 ft. table and a tri-fold poster display board for your poster. 

The poster boards are tri-fold with the following dimensions:
 
4 ft tall
6 ft wide divided into 3 sections 18 in (left and right panels) 36 in (middle panel) see below:

The poster session will start at 6:00 pm and end at 7:30 pm.  Please remove all posters at the end of the session.

Health Behavior Intervention: Combining Research and Practice

Purpose of a Poster Presentation:
• Acquaint conference participants with the fundamentals of your program or study quickly and easily.
• Use text, graphs, tables, charts, and pictures to present only highlights.
• Catch your viewer’s attention.
• Make the viewer want to learn more about your program or study.
 
Designing an Effective Poster:
• Include the abstract title and all authors at the top.
• Posters will be placed on tri-panel poster boards 6’ w x 4’ h (72” w x 48” h) set on table tops.
• Keep any text brief.
• Do not use all capital letters.
• Use graphics (charts, tables, pictures) that can be understood in one minute or less.
• Ideas should flow from panel to panel logically.
• Assume the viewer will be reading your poster from approximately 3 feet away.
• Describe all parts of the program/study, including why the outcome did or did not work as expected.
• The viewer should gain new knowledge or insight by visiting your poster.
• Consider providing a handout summarizing your research and include your contact information.
• If you do not provide a handout to viewers, be sure to have your business cards available for those who request your contact information.
