The University of Florida CIBER invites you to join us in St. Petersburg for an exchange of ideas and perspectives on how to most effectively train global leaders of the future. We will explore how students and educators can be equipped with the linguistic, multi-cultural and managerial tools necessary for leadership in the 21st century. Conference attendees will participate in sessions devoted to business language instruction and ways to develop successful interdisciplinary collaboration.
 
The 2008 conference also provides a unique opportunity to remember the past and to look toward the future. We celebrate our roots–which date from the 1981 EMU Conference on Language and Communication for World Business and the Professions – as we commemorate the 10th anniversary of the historic 1999 conference held in San Diego. As part of this theme, the UF CIBER has commissioned a study to assess the current state of the field. Dr. Christine Uber Grosse will present the results of this survey in St. Petersburg.

We anticipate a successful and widely attended CIBER conference that features special sessions aimed at expanding and energizing the field. We strongly encourage the participation of high school and community college instructors, as well as new faculty and graduate students at the university level. St. Pete 2008 furnishes the perfect opportunity to learn about this exciting field and network with nationally renowned colleagues.
