T
he Holmes Partnership ® (HP) affirms that effective partnerships are a crucial element in "Closing the Achievement Gap." The 2010 Holmes Partnership ® Annual Conference addresses issues, ideas and perspectives related to the next generation of partnerships. The conference seeks to indentify, showcase and disseminate effective programs, practices and policies to support our members in becoming even more effective in Closing the Achievement Gap.

The Holmes Partnership invites proposals for sessions that focus on effective partnerships and innovation in research, practice and policy. This includes, but is not limited to, the impact of technology (communication, pedagogy, social networks), the structures (programs, practices,) that address accountability, and evaluative expectations of districts, states, and funders.

Proposals should address one or more of the following questions:
  • What partnership structures provide models for closing the achievement gap?
  • What programs, practices and policies in your partnership help close the achievement gap?
  • What is the specific evidence of the impact of your partnership in closing the achievement gap?
Presenters of accepted proposals should plan their presentations for a total of 25 minutes, with 5 additional minutes devoted to questions and answers. In addition, each presentation should be interactive and provide for audience participation. To initiate dialogue and increase networking opportunities across programs and partners, each accepted presentation will be paired with another presentation of similar topic and assigned to a 75-minute session time slot. Within this timeslot, a session facilitator will help the presenters keep time, and then lead a 15 minute discussion around the achievement gap questions posed above with session presenters and audience. This format is sure to generate critical dialogue among all participants at the annual conference, leading to sound ideas and practices for closing the achievement gap that you will not want to miss!

All proposal attachments must include the following in order to be considered:
  • Co-Presenter Name (maximum of 5)
    Co-Presenter Institution
    Co-Presenter Emai
    Co-Presenter Phone
  • Abstract of Presentation (75 word maximum)
  • Three Key Words That Describe Your Presentation

Proposals for presentations for the annual conference will be accepted from both memebers of the Holmes Partnership as well as all educators who are interested in the conference. Each Holms Partnership member will be allocated one program slot to highlight their current partnership work as it relates to the conference theme.
