Overview

Introduction to Law School and the Profession (ILSP)The Introduction to Law School and the Profession (ILSP) program is a time to welcome and introduce you to our law school and community. This mandatory program will be held on August 18-21, 2009. The program will focus on introducing you to the College of Law and the legal profession to ensure that you have the information and necessary skills to succeed in law school. We will provide you with information on the policies and regulations governing legal education and the profession, academic information, and offer you many opportunities to get to know other incoming students and Student Ambassadors.

Student AmbassadorsAll new students are assigned to an ILSP Team which is led by a Student Ambassador. The Student Ambassadors are current students who have been selected for their interest in helping members of the new entering class succeed. Your ambassador will assist and guide you through your first semester and will be available throughout your first year of law school. You will meet your Ambassador upon arrival at the ILSP program. However, an Ambassador will e-mail you this summer to answer any questions you may have. Please note that this probably will not be your Team Ambassador as those assignments are not complete until August.
ILSP Program Schedule
The ILSP Program is a three-day program. You are required to check-in on August 18, where you will meet and get to know other new students and Ambassadors. That morning, you will receive materials outlining the services at UF and the Levin College of Law, as well as information on matters such as the policies and regulations governing your legal education and the profession. The second day of the ILSP, August 19, is devoted to academics and skills needed to succeed in law school; The New Law Gators' Banquet is also that evening. The third day of the ILSP, August 21, is the Community Service Day where ILSP participants will engage in service to the Gainesville community.
