Southeastern Electricity Metering Association (SEMA) Presents

The 84th Annual Short Course & Conference

Hilton Clearwater Beach, Clearwater Beach, FL

Nov. 16-19, 2009

President's Message

I would like to personally invite all utility professionals that deal with metering and customer relations to attend the 84th annual SEMA Short Course and Conference. SEMA was established in 1925, and has been holding conferences in various locations around the state of Florida since that time. The annual conference will be held at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort the week of November 16th through 19th, 2009.

The metering industry and affiliated organizations have changed rapidly over the past few years. It is imperative to stay on the cutting edge of technology. The request for real time information has made our field of work very demanding and challenging. Among these contemporary technologies are AMR, AMI, Smart Grid and now Green Energy. The Federal and State Governments are focusing on energy conservation, renewable, and photovoltaic metering. Our goal is to address these issues and more. Whether just starting out in the metering industry or in an advanced stage, SEMA will provide what you are looking for from customer relations to engineering. Between the Officers, Committee members, and fellow participants, you will find a solution for the issues facing your utility.

We, as representatives of SEMA, are dedicated to providing you with information and technology that will help you with your daily operations. We hope to further educate you on the latest technology available today. Upon completion of the course, all participants will receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs) that will be mailed to you from the University of Florida. We challenge you to make new contacts with vendors and fellow participants. Shared knowledge from years of experience can be utilized during your entire career. This is our goal at SEMA because people are our company’s most valuable asset.

I would like to extend a sincere thanks to my fellow Officers, Executive Committee, and the University of Florida staff. This conference would not be possible without their dedication and hard work, which is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Ricky Johnson, President
Southeastern Electricity Metering Association
